Houston Hispanic Architects and Engineers, Inc. (HHAE) honored R. Linda Camacho with the 2023 Architect of the Year Award.
HHAE honored Linda Camacho with this award at their 2023 Annual Awards & Fundraiser Gala held on Friday, September 29th. This award honors outstanding individuals who have made a significant contribution to society and whose accomplishments and career have brought credit to the Hispanic community and, in this case, within Architecture. Linda is a Senior Associate at Kirksey Architecture and she continues to positively impact the firm, her projects, the architecture industry, and community.Linda obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the University of Monterrey, Mexico, and has been in the architecture industry for 25 years. She joined Kirksey Architecture in 2004 and has developed expertise in collegiate and community projects as a Project Manager and Senior Project Coordinator. Her responsibilities include documentation and project coordination, client development, project scheduling, and project budgeting. She is known for her attention to detail and proactive approach.
Linda takes pride in mentoring the younger architectural generations. She is committed to their success and makes time to share the skills and knowledge she has developed throughout her career. Linda is also very active in the industry and community organizations, including AIA International Associate Member, AIA Houston Latinos in Architecture (LiA), Founder and Chair, AIA Houston JEDI Advisory Council Member, Houston Hispanic Architects and Engineers (Past President), among many others.
Passionate about faith and travel, Linda was unable to attend the Gala as she was on a pilgrimage to Portugal, Spain, and France. Her husband and mother accepted the award on her behalf alongside a heartfelt pre-recorded speech from Linda; watch below. We are so proud of her for being recognized as the 2023 HHAE Architect of the Year.
