Goal
To identify students prior to the last year of their professional degree in architecture or interior design at an accredited U.S. institution who possess the design talent, work ethic, and enthusiasm necessary to become part of the Kirksey team and provide them with practical experience in a professional architectural environment that will enable the students to explore their areas of interest in the field of architecture.
Process
In order to identify individuals who are interested in developing their professional careers in Houston, Texas, after graduation, Kirksey will receive applications beginning in February of 2012, from students who will be entering the last year of a professional degree in either an architecture or interior design program in the fall of 2012. Only students in programs at accredited U.S. schools will be considered. Applications must be received at Kirksey by March 15, 2012 in order to be considered for the Internship Program. By March 30, 2012, Kirksey will contact selected candidates to schedule interviews. A selection committee will thereafter recommend candidates for further consideration for the available positions in the 2012 Internship Program. The length of each student’s internship will be determined individually based upon skills, the firm’s needs, and other applicable requirements.
Requirements
Interested candidates should send an application letter expressing their interest in the Kirksey Summer Internship Program with the following attachments:
1. A resume demonstrating all work experience
2. A current school transcript from an accredited U.S. institution reflecting a minimum
GPA of 3.3
3. Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a design studio professor
Portfolios will be requested from candidates who are selected for interviews and should not be sent with the application package
