Tellepsen Downtown YMCA wins TSA Design Award

Thirteen projects were selected for 2012 Texas Society of Architects Design Awards from a total of 227 entries and Kirksey's Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA was one of the winning projects. The new 115,000-sf Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA replaces the former 1941 facility and serves the needs of a revitalizing downtown. The design incorporates elements from the original structure and graphically tells the history of the YMCA and the Tellepsen family, for whom the building is named. LEED Gold certified, this flagship YMCA supports the Y’s mission to create healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for all. Congratulations to the team who worked on this landmark building, a project that has helped shape the landscape of downtown Houston. https://texasarchitects.org/v/article-detail/13-Receive-2012-Design-Awards/7s/
