Kirksey stacks up against the competition at the 2017 CANstruction Competition

The Kirksey + Turner team proudly took home two awards for their CANstruction creation

On November 4th, Kirksey Architecture and Turner Construction stacked can after can for the annual CANstruction competition, and proudly took home two awards for their design: Best Sign and Structural Integrity.

The annual CANstruction event, held at Houston City Center, is a design competition that gives back to the Houston Food Bank. All canned goods are donated and designs try to feature key pantry staples such as rice, beans and canned meat.

For their entry, the Kirksey + Turner team used more than 3,447 cans to construct an Egyptian-themed piece titled, “Meow’s the Time to End Hunger.”

The CANstructions will be on public display, with deconstruction happening Sunday, November 12. After that, all cans will be delivered to the Houston Food Bank to help with holiday hunger.
