The Most Instagrammable Structure in Downtown Houston?

The Lyric Centre Garage & Market in downtown's theater district could be the next "selfie wall" for Instagrammers everywhere

A rainbow of LED colors lights up the façade of the new seven-level Lyric Centre garage, an eye-catching structure that could become Houston’s most Instagrammable wall yet. Flashing in patterns, the lights change from red to blue to green to white – creating a social-media worthy stamp on Houston’s downtown skyline.
The parking garage, at the corner of Smith and Preston, was designed by Kirksey Architecture with Muñoz + Albin serving as the Exterior Design Architect for the accent lighting and façade. It will host a number of light shows for holiday, sporting and cultural events.

“The client charged the design team with creating an iconic structure that could be a fitting setting for the Lyric Market,” said Jon Ward, project manager at Kirksey. “We are so proud to have been part of this project that is bound to become a Houston institution.”

Attached to the garage, the Lyric Market will be home to a new food hall and shopping destination, offering 31,000 square feet of culinary choices. Touted as “a new generation food hall” by Grant Cooper of Clark Cooper Concepts, who serves as the culinary consultant and is curating and managing the project, the food hall is aiming to attract chefs from across the country.

The lights are currently being tested, and it’s no surprise they’re already enticing a lot of positive buzz around town, as captured by Random Sky Studio.

The Lyric Centre Garage opened in March, and the Lyric Market is slated to open early next year. Get those cameras ready.
