Brackett to Head Up Community Team at Kirksey

HOUSTON, TEXAS— Janis Brackett, AIA, LEED AP, joined Kirksey as Vice President and Community Team Leader on July 1. Brackett brings 20 years of architectural experience and a passion for the collaborative process. Previously Vice President and Senior Project Manager at HOK, Brackett has experience in a wide range of complex projects in the higher education, corporate, commercial and industrial markets. She rejoins Kirksey after working with the Community Team from 2002 to 2007. Her focus at Kirksey will consist of leading the Community Team on nonprofit, worship, recreation and multi-purpose projects, as well as business development.

“We are extremely excited to have Janis joining us,” said Wes Good, managing principal at Kirksey. “Her level of experience and commitment to client satisfaction will continue to grow Kirksey’s Community Team.”

Previously serving as the 2014 President of AIA Houston, Brackett has been deeply involved with the Houston community through a number of volunteer positions. A longtime advocate of sustainability, she also served as the 2010 Chair of Gulf Coast Green and was on the Editorial Committee for GreenWorks Houston.

“Her commitment to sustainability aligns with Kirksey’s culture, and her leadership will continue to deliver successful projects for the Houston community,” said Good.

Kirksey’s Community Team has been working in the non-profit and outreach world for more than 15 years. The team’s portfolio has grown exponentially, amassing a list of clients that include Tallowood Baptist Church, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston, the YMCA of Greater Houston, American Heart Association, Council on Alcohol & Drugs Houston, Star of Hope, Neighborhood Centers, Inc. and Houston’s First Baptist Church.

“I value the opportunity to work on projects that will positively impact our city, and be part of a collaborative team here at Kirksey,” said Brackett. "My return to community projects allows me to focus on how the built environment affects the lives of Houstonians."

Brackett has a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas.
