The Grandview Medical Center is a product of the collaboration between healthcare industry leaders from across the United States including Siemens, HillRom, Pixus, and Sony. The new 14-story hospital is the focal point of the HealthSouth campus. Kirksey, in association with CLA Architects, developed the facility program, which accommodates 450,000 sf of core inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services. 30 operating rooms support a 219-bed nursing unit in the main tower floors.
In addition to core services, the building provides several floors for physician lease space, sleep labs, pharmacy, retail, dining, and conference areas, topped with a four-star hotel on the 13th level. Kirksey also designed the new 120,000-sf medical office building that connects to the hospital via a pedestrian bridge. Two garages and a tunnel connection from the new 22,000-sf physical plant also adjoin the hospital.
The hallmark of the project is the collaboration between HealthSouth, Siemens, and its major equipment providers to install and utilize a fiber optic infrastructure throughout the entire medical center for a "digital" healthcare network.
