Kirksey designed the Klein ISD South Transportation Center, a facility serving the southern part of the Klein ISD school district. Located on a 14-acre site on State Highway 249, the facility has a parking capacity for 70 school buses and 89 cars and is comprised of a six bay mechanical service garage, part storage facility, two fueling bays with above ground fuel tanks and a bus wash port. The facility also includes a 4,000-sf administration office building with conference rooms, restrooms with showers and lockers, lunch room and a break room for 100 employees. The center has an emergency generator, communication tower and paved area designated for maintenance vehicle and equipment.

Nicola is an expert in 21st century learning environments and educational design – from pre-K to collegiate. In her role as preK-12 team leader, she has created state-of-the-art public and private schools and developed PlayTheory, a process that engages stakeholders in a fun, collaborative way to gather quantitative and qualitative information that is used during the design phase. With 17 years at Kirksey, her talents and experience are utilized for many community projects as well.
