Horizon Wind Energy, a Houston based wind farm manufacturer was primarily interested in providing a healthy, productive, green environment for their employees. Transparent conference rooms and break area spill into a common corridor leading to the open work area. Every space has access to daylight and views. Existing granite floors from the historic building were re-used and granite from the existing space was re-deployed throughout as base and millwork counters. 70% of the construction waste was recycled. Lighting power density was reduced by 25%. A dimming system is controlled by photocells to harvest daylight. 56% of materials were manufactured locally. Water use was reduced by 43%.
