Norman-Sims Elementary School is an Austin ISD campus that sits on a 10-acre site. The existing campus is comprised of the original building, completed in 1969, and two additions completed in 1988 and 2005, respectively. The 2017 Bond called for the construction of a single, modernized elementary school at the Norman campus to increase enrollment to 522 students. The modernized and expanded facility supports 21st Century learning spaces and offers state-of-the-art technology and community spaces, and is designed to meet LEED Silver requirements.
The modernized structure is approximately 70,000 sf and includes the renovation and demolition of existing structures as well as the addition of a new two-story structure. Site improvements include the addition of code-required parking as well as improvements to the entry drives and carpool and bus lanes. Additional site improvements include the upgrades to playfield areas and playground equipment.
