The Jamail Specialty Care Center (JSCC) of Baylor College of Medicine is a six story, 158,000 sf building located adjacent to the Texas Medical Center. It orients itself towards the McNair campus operated by CHI St. Luke's and BCM. The Kirksey Healthcare team worked with the landscape architect, Office of James Burnett, to visually connect the building to the Baylor campus and a rich landscape space was developed between the two. The building includes outpatient clinical services, an outpatient surgical center, research facilities, and academic and administrative spaces with retail and a cafe on the first floor.
Successfully balancing energy efficiency, sophisticated client requirements, and ample daylight and visual connections to the exterior, this project was designed and constructed in 14 months - on time and within budget. Kirksey issued five different construction packages in order to meet the aggressive schedule and allow the professors, physicians, students, and patients to utilize the campus.
