Kirksey was selected to update the Campus Master Plan and design the first two phases of that plan. The projects include a vertical expansion of two new floors to the West bed tower and circulation core, to create a six story structure that will accommodate anticipated rapid growth. The team is also creating a central design element to provide a more visible and functional main entrance. A large drop-off canopy area with a fountain and a stone paved drive and pedestrian path was designed in addition to a landscaped plaza connecting the entry to the new campus parking garage. A connecting roadway adjacent to the garage was landscaped and redesigned to create a “main street” experience for staff and patrons to position the facility for future growth to the South. Lastly, Kirksey designed the new fourth, fifth and sixth floors for 88 beds in three nursing units for medical and surgical patients with a new dialysis unit, staff locker rooms, and office suite.
