Kirksey provided interior architecture services for Motiva, a leading refiner, distributor and marketer of fuels in the eastern and Gulf Coast regions of the United States. The project occupies four floors in One Allen Center in Downtown Houston. An open office plan, one of the company’s main goals was to incorporate a coffee bar as the main hub for each floor.

The solution was an internal double-width staircase that serves as the primary focal point to create not only a horizontal hub, but a vertical one as well. Accent walls with graphics representing various assets of their business are distributed thoughtfully throughout the space to reinforce the company’s branding. The finishes echo the concept of movement and the linear design of Motiva’s corporate logo — from the wood plank cladding in the elevator lobbies to the carpet pattern in the collaboration spaces. Glass-front meeting rooms of various sizes allow natural daylight to be shared by all occupants.
