The administration gate building is a new two-story, 30,000-sf facility that houses the main operational functions at the Bayport Terminal Complex including gate operation, yard operation, labor scheduling, communication and security operations, port police, and a secured suite for the Department of Homeland Security. Also serving as the main entrance for Bayport visitors and government trade delegations, the gate building also houses common areas such as training rooms, lunch rooms, and restrooms with showers.
Kirksey designed a contemporary and efficient layout that maximizes energy efficiency. Seeking LEED® Silver certification, the administration gate building at the Bayport Terminal was completed in December 2010.
