The Trellis Spa at the Houstonian is a new two-story, 17,000-sf Mediterranean-style “villa” situated adjacent to the hotel on the lush 18-acre grounds. The spa houses 19 treatment rooms, including eight rooms for body treatments, six facial rooms, two couples’ rooms (each with two treatment tables, couples showers and tubs), and VIP, Vichy Shower and Hydrotherapy rooms. Additionally, there are six hair styling stations, seven manicure and four pedicure stations, luxurious locker rooms (with Jacuzzi and steam room), an indoor float pool, an upstairs lounge with a fireplace, and a quiet room for before and after treatments.
The luxurious float pool begins and ends outside the building, traveling through the entire spa and creating a calm, soothing atmosphere. The major goal for the spa is to provide a warm, home-like atmosphere, as opposed to a clinical setting, as many spas do. Fireplaces adorn the relaxation areas, and comfortable lounge areas are provided throughout the interior and exterior. In the treatment rooms, Kirksey created custom decorative glass screens to shield direct lighting and air conditioning vents, further adding to the guest’s comfort.
