A Career Rooted in Technical Expertise and Growth
Milton Pyron, AIA, brings a unique blend of scientific rigor and architectural creativity to his work at Kirksey. With a background in biology and early experience in biomedical research, Milton originally planned to pursue a Ph.D. before pivoting toward architecture, a decision that has defined his professional life ever since.
“I enjoyed the technical aspect of blending technology with design,” he said, reflecting on his transition into the field. That blend of logic and creativity continues to shape his approach today.
Milton entered the profession through a master’s program in architecture designed for non-majors, gaining hands-on experience at a small firm while earning his degree. After graduation, he joined Kirksey, where he has steadily grown his career across multiple project types. Starting on the Commercial team, he later found his stride with the Community Projects team — a group whose diverse portfolio and civic-minded focus aligned closely with his interests.
Driving Impact Through Community-Focused Design
Among Milton’s most impactful projects is the Tellepsen Downtown YMCA. This 110,000-square-foot facility in downtown Houston not only replaced a legacy 1941 structure but also brought a fresh, modern presence to the area. Milton cites the collaboration with designer Scott Cutlip and a supportive client as key factors in making the project both challenging and rewarding.
His reputation at Kirksey is built on thoughtful execution, clear communication, and steady leadership. He is known for managing complex projects from concept through construction with a strong emphasis on coordination and quality.
Last year, Milton was promoted to Executive Architect, a title that reflects years of dedication and consistent performance. In this role, he leads project teams through detailed production and construction phases, serving as a critical link between design vision and final delivery.
Milton remains focused on the future. “I’m excited about the growth of the firm,” he said. “More opportunities, larger projects - it’s an exciting time to be part of Kirksey.”
With his multidisciplinary background, steady leadership, and commitment to excellence, Milton continues to be a driving force within the firm and a respected contributor to the architecture community.
