    Bastrop County commissioners approved Monday the purchase of a $2 million building, designed by Kirksey Architecture, in the heart of Bastrop for its new state-of-the-art communications and emergency management center. Construction should begin in July 2018, with the building completed by summer 2019.

  • 16 JUN 2017 Projects add green space to office environments

    The space between Galleria Place I and Galleria Place II will be transformed into a 1-acre grand lawn with botanical gardens with The Office of James Burnett landscape architecture firm leading the green space design. Located at Alabama and Sage, the $14 million renovation is expected to be complete early next year. Lincoln Property hired Kirksey Architecture to design the building renovations.

    Kirksey Architecture and Metzger Construction won the Golden Bucket — the top prize — for the third year in a row. This year, the team’s entry was “Smurf & Turf,” which featured Smurfs battling some recognizable dragons. The entry also won for “Best Traditional Sandcastle” and “Tallest Standing Structure,” with the tallest section reaching 11.3 feet in height.

    The Menninger Clinic, one of the country’s top psychiatry hospitals, announced March 2 that its board of directors has approved construction a 25,000-square-foot outpatient and education building.
