
Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the leadership team and a strategic partner to firm leadership. This role oversees all aspects of human resources — including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, compliance, compensation and benefits, and organizational development. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader who can design and execute people strategies that support a creative, project-based business and an evolving workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the firm’s mission, values, and long-term growth objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent management.
- Champion a positive, inclusive, and collaborative company culture that supports creativity, innovation, and employee engagement.
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Lead recruitment strategies to attract, hire, and retain top talent across all disciplines.
- Partner with hiring managers to build a consistent and positive candidate experience.
- Oversee onboarding programs that integrate new employees into the firm’s culture and operations.
- Design and implement professional development, mentorship, and leadership training initiatives.
Performance & Culture
- Develop and refine performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, reviews, and career path planning.
- Foster a high-performance culture by creating clear expectations, recognition programs, and continuous feedback loops.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and ensure they are embedded in all HR practices.
Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
- Oversee competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Manage HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks, updating them as needed.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Evaluate and streamline HR processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and service to the organization.
- Leverage HR technology and data analytics to inform decision-making and improve workforce planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles — experience in a creative, professional services, architecture, design, or engineering firm is highly valued.
- Proven track record in organizational development, talent strategy, and process improvement.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operationally.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making.
