130,000 sf

Project Features
  • Exhibition space, ballroom, meeting rooms
  • Large banquet kitchen and storage
  • Prefuntion and concession area

Completed in May 2004, the new Galveston Island Convention Center is located adjacent to the San Luis Resort at 53rd Street and Seawall Boulevard. The 130,000-sf convention center includes a 43,200-sf exhibition space, a 15,000-sf ballroom, 20,000 sf of meeting rooms, a large banquet kitchen, a 30,000-sf pre-function and concession area, and 10,000 sf of storage. A 600-car parking facility provides direct access to the pre-function space.

Due to the convention center’s proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, it was designed with the coastal environment in mind and meets the Texas Department of Insurance’s windstorm requirements for seaward construction.
