Kirksey designed this LEED Certified, 14-story, 335,000-sf office building with an 8-level precast parking garage. The sophisticated curtainwall exterior was designed to complement the Phase One, a 14-story, glass building that was built in the early 1980s.
A more efficient envelope, exterior shading system, and a cool roof, including a small vegetated roof, results in 12% less energy usage than a baseline building. Native plant selections and water-efficient fixtures reduce exterior potable water usage by 50% and interior water usage by 38%. A unique perimeter condition allows for maximum light penetration and views for 100% of occupants.
Granite Westchase was the first building in Houston to be certified under the LEED® Core and Shell program and also the first Gold rated LEED building in the city.
