Park Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center is a 10,100 square foot renovation of a former endoscopy and surgical suite in the Park Plaza Medical Office Building, located just north of the Texas Medical Center. The existing operating rooms were enlarged and improved to accommodate orthopedic, outpatient surgeries, and an additional operating room was added for higher patient throughput. The OR improvements included installation of the latest surgical grade lighting, medical gas equipment booms, and upgraded heating, ventilation, and air conditioning for improved air quality and infection control. The Pre and Post Operative Nurse Stations were consolidated to allow easier, more efficient staffing of the patient staging area with improved sight lines to recovery beds. Kirksey worked closely with the lead surgeon to maximize the storage and support space, allowing for better support staff workflow.  The center is also supported by the addition of new examination rooms and imaging for pre-surgery and post-surgery preparation and follow-up.
